Frequently Asked Questions

Can I delete a post?

No. Posts on StillHold are permanent by design. This is the core mechanic of the product — your opinions are archived so you can revisit them later through the reckoning process. If you want to change your stance, use the Evolved or Recanted options when prompted.

What is a reckoning?

A reckoning is what happens when one of your old posts resurfaces. At 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years after posting, you'll be asked: "Do you still hold this?" You can respond with Still (you stand by it), Evolved (your view has nuanced — requires explanation), or Recanted (you've changed your mind — requires explanation).

What does "half-baked" mean?

The "half-baked" tag is a pressure-release valve for thinking out loud. Posts marked half-baked enter the archive but don't count toward your consistency metrics. Use it when you're exploring an idea rather than committing to a position.

How do I report abusive content?

Tap the report button (available on every post, reckoning, and profile) and describe the issue. Our moderation team reviews all reports within 24 hours. Clear violations are handled immediately by our AI moderation system.

How do I block a user?

Visit their profile and tap Block. Blocked users cannot see your posts in feeds, follow you, or interact with your content. You also won't see their content.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or visit stillhold.app/delete-account. There's a 30-day cooling-off period during which you can cancel by logging back in. After 30 days, your personal data is permanently deleted.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings → Privacy → Download My Data. StillHold will generate a ZIP file containing your profile information, all posts, reckonings, follows, and blocks in JSON format. You'll receive a notification when it's ready (typically within a few minutes).

What data does AI moderation see?

Only the text of your post or reckoning explanation. No personal information (email, username, IP address) is sent to the AI. Details are available in Settings → Privacy → AI Moderation.

I was suspended. How do I appeal?

Suspensions include an appeal option in the suspension notice. You can also submit appeals at stillhold.app/appeals. Appeals are reviewed within 72 hours.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Email verification prevents spam accounts and ensures we can reach you for important notifications like resurface prompts and security alerts. You can browse StillHold without verification, but posting and interacting requires a verified email.

Is StillHold free?

Yes. StillHold is free to use. A Pro tier with advanced features may be introduced in the future, but the core posting and reckoning experience will always be free.
